Studies have shown that millions of pounds of the product have been deemed unsafe in many countries, but are still being imported to the US and sold in record amounts.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities claimed that some of the largest US honey packers knowingly buy mislabeled, transshipped or potentially altered honey so that they can sell it at a lower price than those companies that require safety and quality standards and rigorously inspected honey.<\/p>\n<p>Washington Legislative Chairman of the American Honey Producers Association Richard Adee stated, &#8220;It&#8217;s no secret that the honey smuggling is being driven by money, the desire to save a couple of pennies a pound. These big packers are still using imported honey of uncertain safety that they know is illegal because they know their chances of getting caught are slim.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After going over international and government shipping records, it was discovered that customs documents and interviews with North America&#8217;s largest honey importers unveiled the widespread honey laundering and the staggering amount of Chinese honey being bought by top US packers today.<\/p>\n<p>The US Food and Drug Administration is working to resolve this problem.<\/p>\n<p>As a  <a title=\"Columbia personal injury lawyer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sinklaw.com\/columbia\/\">Columbia personal injury lawyer<\/a> , I&#8217;ve seen food safety issues like this appear in the news before.
