In a news release Tuesday, Weehoo Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a voluntary recall of more than 2,500 bicycle trailers due to a risk of the trailer detaching, posing a fall hazard to a child in the trailer’s seat.<\/p>\n

Subject to recall are approximately 2,700 Weehoo iGo Bicycle Pedal Trailers. The receiver on the recalled trailer’s seat post hitch can crack, causing the trailer to detach and posing crash and fall hazards to a child riding in the trailer’s seat. One report of the trailer detaching have been received by Weehoo and the CPSC; however no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

The affected trailers are model year 2011 and were manufactured between April 2011 and July 2011 and were sold for about $390 at bicycle retailers nationwide between April 2011 and July 2011.<\/p>\n

Consumers are advised to stop using the bicycle trailer immediately and to contact Weehoo to receive a repair kit that includes a steel reinforcement sleeve to be installed over the receiver.<\/p>\n
