SSA will check income and resources first and THEN check disability\/medical.\u2022 And have an income below $1,730 per month( This monthly benefit is lower for a single person) up to $6,960 per year in 2013.\u2022 Limited resources, meaning less than $2,000 (after the first $1,000 per family member) <strong>Benefit amount<\/strong> \u2022 The monthly payment is entirely dependent upon the disabled person&#8217;s Social Security earnings record. \u2022 The 2013 federal SSI benefit is $710 per month for an individual and $1,066. $1066 for what? With dependant?\u2022 South Carolina offers a state supplement of $483 per month to the federal benefit for low-income individuals living in a community residential facility. <strong>Medical Coverage<\/strong> The disabled worker will be eligible for Medicare coverage after two years of qualifying for SSDI benefits in South Carolina, SC state, federal guidelines so all states same. South Carolina SSI beneficiaries are automatically eligible for Medicaid. All SSI beneficiaries get medical coverage, regardless of SC, federal guidelines.
