In a news release Friday, Deere & Company announced, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, that certain models of John Deere lawn tractors due to a cooling fan issue that poses fire and injury hazards.<\/p>\n
Subject to recall are approximately 36,500 X300, X300R and X304 series lawn tractors with engines manufactured Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA. The cooling fan on engine of the recalled tractors can break, which can cause the engine to overheat, which in turn could cause surrounding plastic to melt, posing risks of fire and serious injury. There have been 163 reports of cooling fan failures including one report of a minor burn injury.<\/p>\n
The recalled lawn tractors were sold nationwide from September 2010 to August 2011 for between $3,000 and $4,000 at John Deere dealers. John Deere will directly notify all registered owners of the recalled tractors of the recall. Affected tractor owners should stop using the recalled lawn tractor immediately and arrange to have the cooling fan replaced by a John Deere dealer.<\/p>\n
