According to a new study, one type of men are more likely to die in an accident than other men.<\/p>\n

Those men are those living in a states with a “culture of honor,” which is described as a “relentless, and sometimes violent, defense of masculine reputation,” according to the study.<\/p>\n

The study, in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, found that “states with a “culture of honor” — in the South, and the West, mainly — also have higher rates of accidental death for white males: 42 per 100,000 compared to 36.8 per 100,000 in non “honor” states.”<\/p>\n

However, car accidents may not be correlated with the study, according to news reports .<\/p>\n

“Traffic accident statistics would seem to bear out the authors’ conclusions. According the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Massachusetts in 2008 had the lowest fatality rate in the nation by miles driven — .7 deaths per 100 million miles. Montana was worst with 2.1\u00a0deaths, with Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and South Carolina following close behind.”<\/p>\n
