{"id":807,"date":"2010-05-25T17:05:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-25T17:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sinklaw.com\/2010\/05\/25\/salmonella-prompts-cilantro-parsley-recall\/"},"modified":"2024-05-08T00:04:26","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T04:04:26","slug":"salmonella-prompts-cilantro-parsley-recall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sinklaw.com\/blog\/salmonella-prompts-cilantro-parsley-recall\/","title":{"rendered":"Salmonella Cilantro, Parsley Recall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>A Texas-based company is recalling cilantro and parsley nationwide because the herbs have the possibility of being contaminated with Salmonella.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;precautionary, voluntary recall&#8221; comes after inspections in Quebec and Michigan found cilantro and parsley tested positive for Salmonella.<\/p>\n<p>The J&amp;D Produce Inc. recall affects cilantro and curly parsley packed between November 30 and December 6, according to  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2010\/HEALTH\/12\/27\/salmonella.produce\/\">news reports<\/a> .&nbsp; The herbs are sold under the brand name &#8220;Little Bear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No foodborne illnesses have been so far in connection with the recall, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>As a  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinklaw.com\/\">North Charleston foodborne illness attorney<\/a> , I&#8217;m glad to hear the products have not caused any <a title=\"food poisoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sinklaw.com\/blog\/category\/food-poisoning\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> food poisoning <\/a> cases yet.&nbsp; A Salmonella food poisoning infection is potentially life-threatening and symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 7-8 hours after infection. Symptoms may be more severe in young and elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.<\/p>\n<p>The company said consumers with the recalled products should throw them away or return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.&nbsp; In addition to cilantro and parsley, the Texas company gathers, packs and distributes a variety of fruits and vegetables such as carrots, limes, pickling cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, greens, onions, melons, mangos and asparagus, according to its website.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Texas-based company is recalling
